Welcome to HeavyEquipmentForums. Joined: Apr 23, Messages: 11 Location: uk. Hi all I have a 12 ton hyster forklift and I am looking for transmission oil specs if any one can help please, it has Perkins engine and is dry brake model if that helps. Many thanks Chris. Does it look like this? Mine is an oldie, yours may be newer. It also has a perkins. I topped off the gearbox with plain old gear oil, but I'm no expert. Last edited: Apr 11, Hi alskdjfhg, Thanks for the reply I think it may be a little newer than your forklift and have been told it has to have a hyster trans oil but I can not find a spec for it ie 10w or ATF and was hoping one of the techs could answer my question Many thanks Chris.

North America English. Indian Subcontinent English. Pacific English.Lift trucks vary considerably in their technical makeup, especially IC internal combustion engine powered trucks, with the transmission being a defining factor.
But what are transmissions, and why do they matter? Choosing the right transmission for a specific application can be the source of many operational benefits. Hyster offers several transmission options in its range of lift trucks up to 9 tonnes capacity so applications can make the best choice according to their usage needs.
Meanwhile an electronically controlled transmission simplifies some operator functions.

For more demanding operations, an electronically controlled transmission will help deliver further benefits such as reduced operating costs and improved driver performance.
This includes the DuraMatch transmission as featured on the Hyster Fortens range.
Intense loading and unloading operations, for example, involve frequent forward and backward shuttling duties. As a result some operations experiencing excessive brake and tyre wear may switch to a truck featuring an Auto Deceleration System ADS.
This contributes to reduced wear for brakes and tyres and helps to enhance productivity. It is also possible for operators to facilitate smooth direction changes without even using the brake pedal or stopping the truck. Reducing the wheel-spin and tyre scrubbing contributes to lower costs and improved productivity for many operations.
The choice of truck and transmission will always depend on the application and how the truck is to be used. That is why Hyster provides so much choice to ensure customers get the best product for their application.Having trouble using the Discussion Forums? Contact us for help. What Type of Transmission Oil Does a Hyster Forklift Require?
Find out what type oil has been used in that transmission and check its classification specs, if its J20A rated then use that. Some customers are fanatics sometimes and only like certain types or brands of fluids, they also may have been told this by another tech previously or called hyster themselves and asked.

Featured Business.Forklifts depend on hydraulic fluid for their lifting and steering abilities.
Hydraulics are the lifeblood of a forklift. Without it, you are increasing the chances of your forklift breaking down. Whether you are lifting 20, pounds or 1, pounds, a proper forklift relies on the perfect amount of hydraulic fluid to provide excellent production.
An Overabundance of fluid can cause leaks and spills, which could lead to safety and environmental dangers. Here is everything you need to know about adequately filling and checking hydraulic fluid for your forklift. There are specific steps and procedures to follow in regards to filling your forklift with hydraulic fluid.
Correctly filling your forklift will help maintain the equipment in the future. Still, sometimes it can be challenging to monitor all the forklifts in your fleet, especially if you run a forklift occasionally over time. Here are three easy detectable symptoms to be aware of when your hydraulic fluid is low.
Aeration occurs when air contaminates with hydraulic fluid. This can create a banging or knocking noise when it compresses and decompresses through the system. Ventilation can cause hydraulic fluid to accelerate the degradation of the liquid. If you begin to notice a knocking noise while operating your forklift, check your hydraulic gauge to make sure you are not running low.
If the temperature in your fluid exceeds degrees, it can damage the seals and accelerate the degradation of the liquid. Not only could this cause your fluid to evaporate exponentially, but it could also damage the forklift due to its excessive thinning of the oil film. To notice if you have a high-temperature fluid, install an alarm in the system that can measure the temperatures of the fluid. The hydraulic fluid is the engine that keeps your forklift running in excellent shape.
Therefore, a loss of speed can indicate a loss of fluid.Gear box function in forklift
Proactively monitoring noise, fluid temperature, and operation can adequately detail the condition of your hydraulic fluid. You noticed something is wrong with your forklift. Your equipment is making an abnormal noise, moving slowly, and it has been a while since you last filled your hydraulic fluid.
It could be time to check your hydraulic fluid levels, but how? Keep your machines running right with regular fluid checks, filter replacements, and routine inspections.
Please keep track of your hydraulic fluid and make sure to replace it every 1, hours of use.Press Releases.
The Hyster Fortens One key consideration is operator comfort, which can impact productivity, especially during long shifts. The intelligent design of the truck helps keep whole body vibration and noise levels low and there is easy access to the cab, optimal all-round visibility and conveniently located controls — all contributing to operator comfort and aiding productivity.
Good awareness and visibility are essential, particularly in operations with many forklifts, or areas where pedestrians work alongside vehicles. For some applications, the option of a panoramic mirror and pedestrian awareness lights may help increase awareness, particularly where forklifts are operating in areas where other trucks and pedestrians may be present. For example, oil immersed brakes are protected from tough, dirty environments, minimising brake maintenance.
Pit Stop Line tyres can also maximise tyre usage to manage costs. Load sensing hydraulics are also available, helping to increase productivity and lower fuel consumption, further contributing to reduced overall operating costs. The Hyster Tracker option can also be used to monitor and schedule forklift repair and maintenance, minimising unplanned downtime, and providing insight into total cost of ownership, for effective cost management.
A reliable engine is at the heart of a dependable and productive lift truck. Proven to lift continuously at capacity in intensive applications, operate on steep gradients, work extreme hours and in dusty environments, these tough trucks are designed to perform consistently in the face of multiple challenges. A wide variety of value-added customisation solutions are available to offer all-round benefits in intense industry applications, such as weighing systems, overload detection, intelligent seatbelt, weather protection features and air conditioning for cabins.
For applications with tall loads, such as commonly found in beverage and wood applications, a raised operator cabin option enhances visibility and for those operations requiring ATEX compliance, several custom solutions are available. Leaking hydraulic fluid causes unnecessary downtime for busy and demanding operations, impacting productivity. Warranty terms are often a good indicator of reliability when selecting a forklift truck.
Factory-fit attachments also come with a choice of two-year or hour warranty. Combined with the other extensive benefits of the H2. For more information, visit www.
